Key Medicine Shortages for November 2021

Many liquid medicines have multiple concentrations; this applies to licensed and unlicensed preparations. Switching between concentrations is a known cause of dosing error.

New clinical guideline - Proton Pump Inhibitor Guideline for Neonates and Paediatrics. The guideline contains information on preferred choice of PPI, as well as dosage and administration advice.

The carbon footprint of inhalers was considered during the recent review of the NHSGGC COPD and adult asthma inhaler device guides (IDGs) (available on StaffNet). The IDGs now have a traffic light key which highlights if the inhaler has a very high, high or low carbon footprint.
