NALOXONE (injection)
Prescribing Notes:
The injection should be the 1st line treatment consideration for
- use in opioid overdoses
- patients prescribed opioids at risk of accidental overdose as per Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Non Malignant Pain guideline
- use in accordance to the NHSGGC Take-Home Naloxone programme
NALOXONE (NYXOID) (nasal spray)
Restrictions:
The nasal spray is restricted to situations when the use of naloxone injection is inappropriate for
- use in opioid overdoses
- patients prescribed opioids at risk of accidental overdose as per Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Non Malignant Pain guideline
- use in accordance to the NHSGGC Take-Home Naloxone programme
