Prescribing of Sunscreen Preparations in NHSGGC

Key points for prescribing:
- Clinicians are reminded that prescribing of sunscreen preparations on the NHS is subject to ‘Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances’ (ACBS) restrictions
- ACBS restrictions mean some sunscreen preparations are regarded as drugs when prescribed for skin protection from ultraviolet light and/or visible light, in medical conditions such as photodermatoses, and genetic disorders (BNF; Sunscreen Overview)
- There is one sunscreen preparation listed in the NHS GGC Adult Formulary:
