Monthly Update

Oxybutynin Patch (Kentera®)

  • Oxybutynin (Kentera®) 3.9mg/24hour transdermal patches are out of stock until w/c 30th May 2022
  • Oxybutynin (Lyrinel XL®) 5mg and 10mg modified-release tablets are available but cannot support an increase in demand
  • Alternative medicines for urinary disorders remain available. Refer to the NHSGGC Adult Formulary for options.

Why do medicine shortages occur?
Medicine shortages occur for a variety of reasons, including difficulties sourcing raw materials, product recalls for safety reasons, changes to licence holder, and changes to pack sizes.

It is vitally important that medicine shortages are monitored and appropriate actions taken, to minimise impact on patient care.
