Good Practice Recommendations for antibiotics towards the end of life

The Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) have published the following good practice recommendations for the use of antibiotics in patients towards the end of life. These recommendations are expected to be helpful in all clinical settings.

The recommendations focus on 3 areas:

  • Making shared decisions about future care

  • Agreeing clear goals of antibiotic treatment

  • Reviewing antibiotic prescribing decisions regularly
