Therapeutics Handbook Update Aug 2019

The Adult Therapeutics Handbook content has now been updated. The following guidelines have had minor content updates:

Controlled Drug Prescribing

Guideline for Phenytoin Dose Calculations

Protected Antimicrobial Policy

Management of Hypernatraemia

Prescribing Notes for Palliative care and Persistent Pain in Older Patients

Management of Pneumonia

 

Other changes include:

Investigation of Unilateral Pleural Effusion

Now includes references to the following GGC guidelines on StaffNet:

Chest Drain Guideline, Acute

Anticoagulation and Antiplatelet Management, Pleural Disease

 

Acute Exacerbation of COPD

Now advises avoiding steroid dose tapering unless in certain circumstances. Further details are available in the ‘Prior to discharge’ section of guideline.

 

Management of Gout

Is now an abbreviated version of the GGC Acute and Chronic Gout Management guideline available on StaffNet.
