Peer Approved Clinical System Tier 2

What is Peer Approved Clinical System Tier 2?

The Peer Approved Clinical System Tier 2 (PACS 2) is the process that replaces Individual Patient Treatment Requests (IPTRs) in most situations. PACS 2 can be used by senior clinicians to request access to licensed medicines on an individual patient basis that are either not recommended for use in NHS Scotland following evaluation by the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) or where SMC advice is awaited.

When is PACS 2 coming?

PACS 2 is now live in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as of Friday June 1st.

Where can I find out more information?

The NHS GG&C Policy for PACS 2 can be found on the Medicines Policy page of GGC Medicines. The PACS 2 documentation and supporting materials can also be found on the GGC Medicines website HERE.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, or if you have any further questions about the PACS 2 process, the Medicines Policy and Guidance Team within Medicines Information can assist.  Email: ggc.medicines@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or telephone (0141) 211 4407
