Adult Neutropenic Sepsis - Guideline Correction

Initial Management of Neutropenic Sepsis in Adults - Guideline Correction

Staff are asked to be aware of the following correction to the Initial Management of Neutropenic Sepsis in Adults Guideline following discovery of an error on the management flowchart.

In the uppermost green “DEFINITIONS” section where it describes “Other Immunocompromised Patient Groups” the definition of high dose corticosteroid therapy should state;

  • prednisolone >15mg/day for > 2 weeks, (NOT  prednisolone >15 mg/kg day as in the original flowchart)

Online versions of the guideline accessed via links in the Adult Therapeutics Handbook and StaffNet have been updated to reflect this amendment.  Some high-use clinical areas have been issued with poster versions of the guideline and a process of correction is underway by the antimicrobial pharmacy team.  Please contact your site antimicrobial pharmacist or pharmacy department if you identify any incorrect posters displayed in your clinical area.
